An app for discovering events and community that resonate.
For 20-somethings looking to attend events and build community, the discovery process is often fragmented and frustrating. Most rely on scattered Instagram posts, word-of-mouth, or generic event platforms that prioritize volume over relevance — surfacing impersonal or irrelevant listings. This lack of thoughtful curation leads to missed opportunities, fatigue, and experiences that don’t feel authentic, leaving users feeling more disconnected than before.
Kinsa is a mobile app designed to make event discovery feel personal, intuitive, and aligned. Built specifically for 20–35 year olds seeking meaningful connection, the app delivers tailored event recommendations based on users’ interests, values, and vibe. A streamlined onboarding flow captures preferences up front, while robust filters and calendar integrations make it easy to find and keep track of relevant events.

Spring 2025
A few clear patterns emerged:
Making event and community discovery feel personalized, purposeful, and easy to navigate.
Tagging system and robust filters
Enables users to discover events and communities based on their unique interests, values, and desired vibe.
Seamless event flyer upload
Since user interviews revealed that most discover events through Instagram, Kinsa uses the same 9:16 ratio for event cover photos.
The goal was to create a brand that felt like a fresh alternative without sacrificing usability.
The onboarding experience was designed to both educate users about the app’s purpose and tailor their experience from the start.
Through a smart tagging system, users can explore events and communities tailored to what matters most to them.
Events marked as “interested” are automatically added to the in-app calendar. This view allows users to quickly visualize their week at a glance and revisit saved events with ease.
A filtering system that lets users control key variables like distance, date, interests, values, and vibe. Filters are easy to scan and select using pill-style buttons, supporting fast decision-making without overwhelming the user.
Customizable profiles let users control how much they share, from a simple bio to detailed tags like identity, interests, and values. Profiles allow users to message one another and see who else is attending events, making it easier to find common ground and stay connected.
